I finally got round to editing our Croatia photos, these things take time when you have 800 or so! Here’s a very small edit from Plitvice National Park from August, knowing how busy it is in high season we opted for the two day pass to get round the park, and definitely recommend it! The queues were a bit mad, even getting there at 7am when it opens, but thankfully a 2 day pass meant we could walk straight in on the second day. Also doing the boats and popular waterfalls super early is recommended to avoid getting stuck in queues during the peak season.
Over the 2 days we walked the perimeter of the main lakes as well as some of the quieter woodland trails and even had a row in a boat!
The turquoise blue of the lakes is striking and unbelievably clear, the colours and reflections are really quite unique.
After a busy 2 years I’m excited to share I’ve completed my MA in Textile Design at Birmingham City University with Distinction. For the course I focused on Biophilia, the concept that we all have an innate need for nature. This term was popularised by Edward O. Wilson’s 1984 book of the same name, where he proposed our need to affiliate with nature and other living things is part of our biology.
My research led me to the work of Oliver Heath and Interface which highlighted the improvements in health and wellbeing a connection with nature can offer, and equally the negative effects in its absence. As a designer, it’s fuelled my passion to encourage a connection with nature in my art and to explore new ways of applying this as surface pattern. This has led me to develop laser etched wood panels and digital murals for interiors, more of which I’ll be sharing over on the portfolio page. These installations can transform interiors, introducing botanicals and natural textures, offering a sense of escapism to the natural world.
I look forward to sharing more new development in the coming months, if you work with interiors and are interested in seeing more or collaborating please feel free to get in touch.
I’m super excited to doing my first Stylised Floral Drawing Workshop at West Elm, Westfield London on Saturday 29th September.
Join me for an afternoon of stylised florals where I’ll be sharing tips and tricks for drawing modern florals and botanicals. As a designer and illustrator my style has evolved over the years from fun doodling to detailed botanical drawing, all the while with a trusty black fineliner by my side. I’ll be guiding you through different approaches to drawing in black fineliner with a splash of watercolours along the way, helping you explore your own style.
It was a great show at Pulse London this year, I was absolutely over the moon to be selected by Sarah Sevier, Head of Retail at the V&A for the runner up award for Best New Product in Fashion at Pulse London in May. Sarah especially loved the print quality and use of colour, so a big thank you to my suppliers for doing a fabulous job!
